CAPSA Endowment

At CAPSA, we understand the critical need for sustained and reliable funding to ensure that our life-saving programs can continue to aid those affected by abuse without interruption. This is why we emphasize the importance of endowments.

What is an Endowment?

An endowment represents a promise of perpetual support. While the principal amount is kept intact, the interest/dividends are used to fund CAPSA’s programs. This consistent and reliable source of funding is vital for our ability to provide consistent services.

The Importance of Building Our Endowment

Our dependence on competitive grants which require reapplying every one to two years offers no promise of renewal means that the future of any programs is never guaranteed. When a grant is not renewed, the impact is immediate and severe: valuable programs may be cut, and dedicated staff may lose their positions, directly affecting the survivors we serve.

Our Vision for CAPSA’s Endowment

We aim to build an endowment that can secure 15% of our total operating revenue which is currently $600,000. The endowment would allow CAPSA to maintain and grow our critical programs, cover essential business operations, and ensure that our support for survivors remains unwavering.

Make an Endowed Gift

Join us in securing CAPSA’s future by contributing to our endowment fund. Together, we can ensure that every individual affected by abuse has access to the support they need, today and for generations to come.

Named Endowment

Creating a Legacy Through Named Endowments

A named endowment is a powerful way to leave a lasting impact. A named endowment can be established with an initial donation or a commitment of $1,000,000. Contributions to these endowments are managed within the CAPSA endowment funds until reaching $500,000 and serve unrestricted purposes, with detailed account notes maintaining transparency. Once the endowment balance reaches $500,000 a separate endowment account is established.

Please Note: Named endowments that do not achieve $500,000 and see no new contributions for over five years may be absorbed into the primary endowment fund, at the discretion of our board.

Current Named Endowments

  • Charis Legacy Foundation Endowment: $100,000
  • Donna and Kent Alder’s Endowment: $60,000
  • Board Legacy Endowment: $210,000
  • MacKenzie Madden and Johnathon Sadler Endowment – NEW

These balances are updated annually in July at the beginning of each fiscal year.

Please contact Jill Anderson or James Boyd at 435-753-2500 to discuss the establishment of a named endowment.

MacKenzie Madden and Johnathon Sadler Endowment

MacKenzie Madden and Johnathon Sadler tragically lost their lives on July 14, 2014. To honor their memory and the profound impact of their lives, Carrie and Jim Madden have established the CAPSA MacKenzie Madden and Jonathan Sadler Endowment.

Endowment Example

If you donate $100,000 to CAPSA’s endowment, your donation will be invested. With a 6% return, your $100,000 gift will generate $6,000 in dividends the first year. CAPSA will use $4,000 for CAPSA programs and reinvest the $2,000 to increase future impact.

Each year your donation will continue to grow the endowment while generating program funding. At 10 years, your gift will have generated a total of $43,798 in program funding. 20 years, it will have generated CAPSA with $102,272 in program funding – this is more than your original gift.
