Business Engagement

Individuals spend a majority of their time in one of two places: work or home. When home isn’t a safe place, we hope that work is.  CAPSA prioritizes community engagement as a way to increase awareness of services. 

One way to help support a healthy work environment is being equipped to connect survivors of Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault or Human Trafficking to CAPSA. CAPSA’s full time staff is unable to be everywhere, all at once. We hope that within your networks, you can help build trust in CAPSA, so that if someone is in need of help, they will feel empowered to access and utilize CAPSA’s services.  

CAPSA is the nonprofit domestic violence, sexual abuse, and rape support and recovery center serving Cache County and the Bear Lake area. We provide support services for women, men and children impacted by abuse. All of our services are FREE and CONFIDENTIAL.  

We have grown in response to what our community and survivors are telling us they need. 

How We Help

Our Services

CAPSA is a nonprofit domestic violence, sexual assault, and rape support and recovery center serving Cache and Rich Counties. Each year, CAPSA serves more than 1,900 women, men, and children fleeing abuse and healing from the trauma associated with domestic violence or sexual abuse. CAPSA’s support services include 24-hour support phone line, emergency shelter, casework, rape exam advocacy, legal advocacy, prevention education, transitional housing, and clinical therapy. All CAPSA’s services are FREE and CONFIDENTIAL

We support survivors and secondary survivors of abuse, and can provide a mobile response to your business.

We invite you to see what we do. CAPSA has grown from a small volunteer led program, operating out of our founder’s home to a 70 employee, 80 volunteer non-profit, operating out of a 20,000 square foot office space. This growth is representative of CAPSA’s passion to support survivor’s needs.  

On a tour, we will share stories of how many of our programs came to be. After seeing our space, we encourage you to share with your employees. In order to help individuals, come to know and trust CAPSA, it is important that they understand the breadth of services we can offer.

What We Offer

Training for Community & Professionals

Many years ago, Jill Anderson, CAPSA’s CEO and then caseworker provided a mobile response to a local restaurant, to support a staff member who was experiencing Domestic Violence outside of work. While providing this casework session in the back of this small drive-up restaurant, Jill realized the need to provide further education and support to businesses in our service area. Since this beginning, CAPSA has trained and collaborated with hundreds of businesses and provided support to hundreds of individuals impacted by Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault/Rape.  

CAPSA offers the following trainings at no-cost to your business. These trainings can be adapted to meet your needs. Please reach out to info@capsa.org to schedule a training.  

Recognize (Adapted to be 15, 30, or 45 minutes) 

Participants will learn to distinguish between healthy, unhealthy, and abusive behaviors in relationships, emphasizing the recognition of signs for both positive and negative dynamics. The training also focuses on equipping learners to identify warning signs of domestic and sexual violence, particularly in workplace settings, covering behavioral, emotional, and physical indicators of abuse or trauma.

Respond (Adapted to be 15, 30, or 45 minutes) 

Participants will learn to identify warning signs of potential domestic violence or abuse and gain detailed knowledge on responding effectively, focusing on two scenarios: reaching out to someone displaying warning signs and responding when a survivor seeks help. Additionally, participants will understand trauma and its effects, becoming trauma-informed in their roles, while also assessing and enhancing their workplace culture to support individuals during traumatic events.

Refer (Adapted to be 15, 30, or 45 minutes) 

Participants will identify warning signs of potential domestic violence or abuse and acquire skills to respond empathetically, understanding the complexity of individuals’ situations, and referring them to CAPSA services within their roles. Additionally, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of CAPSA’s services, with an emphasis on maintaining confidentiality to support survivors effectively.

CAPSA Services & Championing Hope (Adapted to be 15, 30, or 45 minutes)

Participants will be informed about CAPSA’s services for individuals affected by abuse, including the 24/7 hotline, casework, legal assistance, and court advocacy. They will also gain awareness of personal biases and the impact on responses to harm, along with learning the role of being a bystander, emphasizing intervention as an upstander by challenging cultural attitudes and expressing non-judgment.

Trauma Informed (Adapted to be 15, 30, or 60 minutes)

This training provides a framework for understanding, recognizing, and responding to the impact of trauma. It emphasizes creating a safe, supportive environment where individuals feel respected and empowered while addressing the emotional and psychological effects of trauma. The presentation integrates principles of safety, trust, and collaboration to foster healing.

We are in a unique position to see signs that things might be going on in someone’s life. So, the first step is that we invite CAPSA to come in and provide some training to our leadership team. They come in and they help our leaders see what the signs are. Then, when a leader sees a sign, they know how to have that conversation, or how to begin that process.

You can show your support of CAPSA and provide information to your team members. We have bathroom signs, posters, banners, brochures, and business cards available at no cost to your business.

How to Help

Increase Funds

Home Sponsors donate $6000 annually, which represents the average cost for CAPSA to provide housing assistance. Home Sponsorship is recognized with signage on the home, as well as logos in our annual report and on our website. Home Sponsors are invited to be Hole Sponsors at our Golf Tournament for no additional cost.  

Officer sponsorships start at $4000 per year. Office sponsors have a sign placed outside of a caseworker or therapist’s office, or a meeting room with their name or logo and the phrase, “is honored to support a place of ____________.” 

CAPSA depends on fundraising to support our programs. You can plan an event benefitting CAPSA, participate in our annual Wine Pairing and Golf Tournament or do Peer to Peer Fundraising efforts. All of our services are free. We invite you to invest in CAPSA to further make this possible.   

Employees can donate a small portion of their paycheck to support the life-saving services CAPSA offers.

Reduce Expenses

One way your business can help reduce CAPSA’s expenses is to hold a donation drive. Our needs are ever changing. Please call CAPSA at 435-753-2500 to ask about specific in-kind donations that are currently needed.  

Specific Events Happening- 

  • Thanksgiving Boxes, we collect food to assemble Thanksgiving Meal boxes for our clients. Annually we assemble nearly 60 boxes. 
  • St. Nick’s Shop, we collect toys, coats, clothes, wrapping materials, and trees to give to client families who are in need during the holiday season. We annually provide Christmas for 300 children and their families.  

Your group can volunteer collectively or individually to support CAPSA. In addition, groups that have volunteer paid time off programs can leverage their expertise to support CAPSA projects, such as photography or video work.
